Family Development Credential w/Enhancement

The Family Development Credential is a nationally recognized credential for frontline family workers and leaders. It is built on the Empowerment Skills for Family Workers curriculum, originally developed at Cornell University with input from families, frontline workers, program supervisors, and policy makers who attended focus groups, reviewed drafts, and participated in pilot tests.

For Head Start programs, the FDC is more than a professional development opportunity. It is a requirement that directly strengthens the family partnership process at the heart of the Head Start model.

What the FDC achieves:

  • For families - services become more focused on helping them identify their strengths, set their own goals, and reach them in the most meaningful ways that shift from being transactional to transformational.

  • For frontline workers - the FDC builds the skills and competencies needed to work effectively with families.

The Momentum Leadership Group difference:

  • Our course covers the full Empowerment Skills for Family Workers curriculum, taught by experienced facilitators who have personally led high-quality Family Services and Head Start centers.

  • Our credential also includes one day focused on the integration of School Readiness, Child Development, and Family Services. Leading to improved collaboration across service areas, better goals, and higher child and family outcomes.
